Business traveler's hotels are much cheaper during the weekend than on weekdays. Conversely, consider using leisure hotels during the week as they tend to raise prices on the weekend.
Hotels are offering advance purchase in many locations. Remember this locks you into the very best rate at the moment but it is a final sale so if your plans are not firm, consider other rates.
Even with a reservation, always ask if there is a lower rate when you check in. If they say no, ask them for an upgrade or some other perk. Again, all they can say is no, and they may say yes!
Choose your frequent hotel guest program wisely. If you use hotels less than 5 times a year, consider one that gives a discount or airline miles for membership rather than points. At 5 nights a year, it may take you three or four years to earn a free night. |
