 | | Vancouver International Airport – the Hub of Western Canada | | | Acting as the main gateway between Canada and Asia, Vancouver International Airport has more transpacific flights than any other airport in Canada and is the main hub for local airlines such as Air Canada, West Jet and Air Transat. The airport has daily, non-stop flights to destinations in Asia, Europe, Oceania, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean as well as domestic flights to other airports within Canada.
Facilitating an easier transition for passengers, the airport is one of eight airports in North America that has been granted US border pre-clearance facilities which means passengers have no risk of border delays and can have their baggage checked through to their destination without pre-clearance.
The terminal which was completed in 1968 has since expanded to include separate domestic and international terminals with a total of four terminals. The international and domestic terminals are located in the same building which is divided into two sections, while the South Terminal is found in a separate section of the airport serving mostly regional airlines.
Upon arrival into the city, transport from the airport is served by the Sky Train and the night bus N10 which runs after the Sky Train is closed for the night. Running regularly, they connect the airport to Downtown Vancouver and other locations within the city.
